House of Language

We lost our boats in the wilds of sleep.

We lost Allah’s Most Beautiful Names in the tavern.

Our fingers at war.

We’re writing with tears of the eye.

We’re explaining daytime speed by a kangaroo jump.

We’re planning to arrest the clown’s evidences,

With one single bite.

Our house collapsed like a virgin ship,

At an absurd bottom,

And the family album immersed into flowers of absence.

My father fled to the madhouse,

To become a conductor of an orchestra in a wall painting,

And to please the ghost choir with an intermittent cough.

He doesn’t see the world except with foresight of subconscious.

And says to his pet cloud: muffle me up…

While my deaf brother turned into a crow,

Crouching the whole day at the farthermost end of city,

While the others disappeared in the density of the invisible,

I moved to live in the house of language.

I am not alone in my eternal emigration.

At noon, we pick the apricot of metaphor

We ship the bags of imagination with very rare fruits.

How sweet and deep this wobble was,

In the House of Language.

فقدنا مراكبنا في براري النوم ..

فقدنا أسماء الله الحسنى في الحانة..

أصابعنا في الحرب ..

صرنا نكتب بدموع العين..

ونفسر سرعة النهار بقفزة كنغر..

ونخطط لاعتقال براهين المهرج..

بقضمة واحدة ..

سقط بيتنا مثل سفينة عذراء

في قاع عبثي ..

واغرورق ألبوم العائلة بأزهار الغياب..

فر أبي إلى مستشفى المجانين..

ليصير قائد أوركسترا في لوحة حائطية..

يسعد جوقة الأشباح بسعال متقطع..

لا يرى العالم إلا بباصرة اللاوعي..

ويقول لغيمته الأليفة دثريني..

بينما تحول شقيقي الأصم إلى غراب..

ينعق طوال اليوم في أقصى المدينة..

واختفى الأخرون في كثافة اللامرئي..

صرت أسكن بيت اللغة ..

لست وحدي في هجرتي الأبدية..

في الظهيرة نقطف مشمش المجاز..

نشحن أكياس المخيلة بفواكه نادرة جدا..

كم كان عذبا وعميقا هذا التطواح

في بيت اللغة.
